Dog Training

To promote harmonious, lifelong companion relationships between people and dogs, the Frederick County Humane Society offers Positive Reinforcement Training Classes at our facility.

The FCHS offers clients a choice of dog training classes.

Puppy, Level 1 Adult, and Advanced Classes are taught by Right Start Training professionals. Please contact owner/trainer Michelle Mange via email at  rightstartmaryland@verizon.net or by phone at 301-526-6285.  For class descriptions and schedules, go to www.rightstartmaryland.com

Starting in March 2009, Puppy classes are being offered by Maxine Medaglia and John Trobaugh, local Bark Busters dog trainers and behaviorists. For class descriptions and more information, contact them at frederickco@barkbusters.com or call 301-271-3030. For more about them, go to this article in the Frederick News Post:

We also recommend www.openpaw.org as an excellent source for learning more about positive reinforcement training, as well as basic pet care. Widely respected veterinarian and animal behaviorist Dr. Ian Dunbar helped found Open Paw and is a member of the board of directors.
