About Us
Founded in 1910, the Frederick County Humane Society (FCHS) is a non-profit animal welfare organization located in Frederick, Maryland and dedicated to providing programs and services to keep pets happy, healthy and in lifelong homes.
We are a private non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. We rely on grants, private donations, and fundraising events for all of our operating expenses.
We are not affiliated with the Frederick County Animal Control, also known as the Frederick County Animal Shelter. Therefore, we do not accept pets for surrender, or provide pets for adoption. We do in fact work with this organization in promotion of animal adoptions, and various events throughout the year.
Our Mission
To advocate for animal welfare in the community and provide affordable services, resources and programs to help responsible pet owners keep their pets healthy, happy and in life-long homes.
Our Vision
We will be a widely recognized community-based organization that leads improvement in quality of life for animals in Frederick County Maryland by facilitating spay/neuter programs, affordable basic vet care, compassionate humane education, animal welfare advocacy and servicing as a resource within the animal welfare community.
